Kitchen staff at the Elizabethan were “egg-static” with the news that they have won a county-wide award for the quality of their catering.
More than 300 school chefs from across the whole of Nottinghamshire attended the ‘Making a Meal of it’ county event at Kelham Hall, Newark without an ‘ounce’ of knowledge about the award.
Helen Fifoot, Area Operations Manager said “the panel of judges deliberated long and hard over the entries to choose an overall winner and runners up.”
The judging was very close and the Elizabethan Catering Team were placed second overall for all their hard work and dedication to catering at the school. They were the only secondary school to receive an award.
Elizabethan chef, Jaki Green, said “I thought I was attending a schools catering conference and had no idea about the award, until I was invited on stage to claim our prize.
“It’s a wonderful reward for the catering team. Principal, Christine Horrocks, has set very high standards for the school and I’m proud that we, as team, are playing our part in keeping these standards high.”
Helen Fifoot and Kathryn Cope, Area Catering Manager attended the whole school assembly where they presented the school with a £100 cheque and the catering team of Jaki, Carol, Susannah, Karen, Sharon and Louise with their award and prizes.
