Bassetlaw Secondary Boccia Tournament

The Elizabethan recently sent two teams to participate in the Bassetlaw Secondary Schools Boccia Tournament.  Boccia was originally introduced as a Paralympic sport in 1984, but has been gaining popularity in schools among both disabled and able bodied students.

Team One, Alice English, Lily Askew, Ellie Hanley and Jade Blagg played some tough opponents to finish in fourth place, whilst Team Two, Caymen Hayes, Georgina Barrell and Trystan McGowan finished ninth.  Both teams played exceptionally well throughout the tournament and demonstrated excellent teamwork, impeccable manners and were a credit to the Elizabethan.

Academy Principal, Christine Horrocks, said she was very proud of the competitors.  “The diversity of our sporting successes represents the diversity of our student population.  I am delighted that our students gave such a good account of themselves.”
