Budding reporters in training for News Day

21 Year 5 pupils have joined students from the Elizabethan Academy in preparation for the BBC School Report on 10 March. Headteachers from the Elizabethan primaries were asked to nominate two pupils each, and they spent the day working with Elizabethan staff and students looking at what makes a good news story and the sort of high level language used by journalists. In the afternoon they were joined by Robert Langley of the Retford Times and Sara Dyer from Sheffield Hallam University, who spoke to them about print and television journalism and answered the many questions they had. The students will return on 10 March for the BBC School Report, when they will get to research, write and publish their own news story.
