Maths Genius in European Competition

A number of students from years 9-11 recently competed in the Intermediate UK Maths Challenge.  Peter Cowburn from Yr 11 was the highest scoring student from The Elizabethan High School and achieved the gold award.  This has placed him within the top 5% nationally, so he is officially in the top 2000 young mathematicians for the entire country.  His Maths teacher is very proud of his success but not entirely surprised.  "Teaching Peter is extremely rewarding as it is rare to find someone with such natural ability and passion for the subject" says Mrs Lindley who has had the pleasure of teaching him for the past 3 years, "at times it can very difficult because he understands the most difficult concepts quickly.  He has an impressive mind"

As a result of his achievement he has been asked to compete in the next round of the challenge and is one of the students representing the UK as we compete against many other students across Europe.
