Environmental Issues Programme

The Groundwork organisation is running a 10 hour learning programme in Clowne, centred around environmental issues.

Children in Need

We have not had a non-uniform day today because I promised parents that we would only have one per term. We have, however, been collecting and organising other events to raise money for this very worthy cause. Our students ( and their families ) are always very generous when is comes to fund raising - thank you very much for your support.

Black Belt First Dan

Congratulations and well done to Rhio Blinston whom has recently graduated to Black Belt First Dan.

Community Day

On Thursday 20th October, The Elizabethan High School hosted a celebration of community diversity for 128 students from our family primary schools.

Entering Yr9 students for GCSEs

At last week's Parents' Evening, some parents asked me whether we would be entering all Yr9 students for the GCSE and BTEC exams in their chosen option subjects this year. A few parents thought their child might not be ready to achieve their target grades in Yr9.

Uniform check

Thank you to all parents for your support in making sure your son/daughter is wearing the correct uniform. 95% of students are well-presented at all times and proud to wear their uniform. The recent checks have been put in place to support all those parents who have bought the correct uniform and who make sure that their child wears it every day. As I have said to the students ' I want us to be able to concentrate on what matters - learning and achievement'.

Post-16 options evening is vital for all Yr11s

Next Wednesday, all of Yr11 and their parents are encouraged to visit our Post-16 Centre ( next to the Leisure Centre ) to find out about the range of options available. There will be teachers there from every subject offering A'Level and Vocational courses. There will also be staff from North Notts College and from a range of occupations e.g. the Army, to give your son and daughter the important information s/he needs to take the next steps. Careers Advisors will also be there to give important information and guidance. The Centre will be open from 6-8pm.

Yr 9 and 10 options evening

We are trialling a new approach to Parents' Evenings, this year, to give parents more opportunity to talk to class teachers about their child's progress. This means that the parents of Yr9 and 10 students will be invited to come into school twice ( but for less time each time). On Thursday this week, we would like you to come in and meet with the teachers who teach your child's two options subjects. As most students are taking the exam in May, it is important to give you early feedback on how they are working. We hope to see a good turnout.

Headteacher's blog

The Headteacher's Blog is back on-line! Here I will aim to keep parents up to date with some of the events that are happening in school. It will be fairly informal. We will now aim to work on reinstating the parent questionnaire, so that you can give me regular feedback on any aspects of school life. The website front page may look similar to before but, behind the scenes, the ICT team have been making it easier to update so there will be more frequent updates in future. We are meeting tomorrow to discuss ideas for making the front page more colourful!
